I originally was inspired to paint candle shrines when I first moved to Portland, Maine - many of the old apartment buildings had once been grand old Victorian homes. In my apartment on historic State Street their was a fireplace, however it wasn't able to be used as one. I soon collected a montage of candles and created a composition that was pretty enough to photograph. Soon after that I began a series of Candle Paintings that were a great success, as each of the paintings on this page except one have been sold. As an artist, it seems that my subject matter is directly related to what is going on in my life.
